Spring greenery

Got into some kind of spring time frenzy yesterday, when I was waiting for my daughter to finish her flute lesson: I passed a florist and couldn’t help myself.

Sadly, hydrangeas never last in our house but I always fall for the temptation to buy some this time of year. Then I’m equally sad each time they start dropping their leaves, which inevitably happens.

Perhaps some of you have greener fingers than mine – what can I do to keep my hydrangeas alive for longer than a week? Because they really are the grandest of flowers and I really think I should manage this. I mean: how hard can it be – they’re plants, for goodness sake??
